Travel to Slovenia

Slovenia can be divided into several parts, each of them is interesting to explore. Coming to the country the first place the tourists are eager to visit is its capital Ljubljana, which is in some way a meeting point of eastern and western cultures. The Old Town of Ljubljana is famous for its fascinating medieval castle with Renaissance and Baroque facades. The Tivoli park, surrounding the castle, stretches to the city centre. Ljubljana is also famous due to the fact that the world’s oldest philharmonic academy is situated there. Being the home of many theatres, museums and galleries Ljubljana annually hosts more than 14 international festivals. If you want to see the green oasis on the eastern end of the Alps, visit the Maribor Pohorje region, which is the second most important centre of Slovenia and one of the most favorite tourists’ destinations. Maribor has one of the oldest classical wine-cellars in Europe.

The Mediterranean region is good for those for prefer holidays at the seaside. More over there are many parks there. Among the towns located in this area Piran, Izola and Koper should be named. Summer Festival of Primorska, which is annually held in the Bay of Koper, attracts a lot of tourists from all over the world. The countryside of this territory is an ideal place for the lovers of free climbing. As for Izola the visitors come there because of excellent swimming opportunities and well-developed infrastructure of numerous resorts. Piran is not only the oldest port in the country but also is considered to be cultural and historical monument. Thanks to narrow streets and compact houses the town has a typical Mediterranean look. The must visits of Piran are Sergej Masera Maritime Museums and Aquarium.

Many tourists emphasize that Karst has two faces: one above and one under its surface. The visitors are welcome to see more than one thousand karst caves and potholes, situated in Slovenia. By the way, the country has the most interesting so-called underground world. The most visited is Postojna Cave. During the tour along this cave you will see the stalagmites and stalactities of different colors and shapes. The second place take Skocjan Caves, included in UNESCO's list of World natural and cultural heritage sites. These caves impress the tourists by the unique flora and fauna. Triglav National Park is the largest natural park in Europe. It lies at the footstep of the highest mountain of Slovenia. So, if you prefer the outdoor activities and hiking tours as the best way of entertainment, Slovenia is exactly what you need.
